Broncos vs. Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger Expected to Start

Ben Roethlisberger is now listed as questionable with a sprained AC joint and torn ligaments in his throwing shoulder.

Jones apologized Friday for claiming Brown was faking a concussion at the end of the game, posting a video on Instagram in which he said “I apologize sincerely”.

Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown was ruled out for Sunday’s divisional playoff game at Denver because of a head injury.

Brown was injured late in a wild-card win over Cincinnati last Saturday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers stagger into Denver with an ailing Ben Roethlisberger, who won’t have his leading rusher or his top receiver against the league’s best defense Sunday.

Coach Mike Tomlin says Roethlisberger did everything he was asked on Friday. The Steelers will also be without running back DeAngelo Williams who was also ruled out with the foot injury that occurred vs Cleveland. He had passed through the early portions of concussion protocol, but couldn’t get through the final stages early Friday morning.

With Williams out for a second straight week in the postseason, the Steelers will be forced to rely upon backups Fitzgerald Toussaint and Jordan Todman, who combined for 183 yards from scrimmage (123 rushing, 60 receiving) against Cincinnati.

Yet the Steelers insist they can get by without him.

Several Broncos players said they thought their 2015 divisional playoff loss to the Colts came because they were looking ahead to the Patriots. So, I mean, (Wallace is) going to be sore after the game. “So, we know we’ve still got to do our part”.

As far as Roethlisberger is concerned, I do not think this is a smart move by him or the Steelers having him play in this game. He’s going to be sore after the game, that’s how I see it. He comes out on a screen, he better not come at (me).

After Le’Veon Bell was suspended for the first two games of the season, Steelers fans did not have a ton of confidence in Williams.

But Jones, as he said, is a man of his word.

Brown suffered the brain injury in last weekend’s shocking last-minute victory over the Bengals, when he was hit helmet-to-helmet by rampaging linebacker Vontaze Burfict. He pretty much single-handedly beat the Broncos Dec. 20 with 16 catches for 189 yards and two touchdowns.

Haslett has been around long enough _ starting from when he was the 1979 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year _ to have seen it all.

“If [Brown was cleared to play], obviously, we would be excited about that”, receiver Markus Wheaton said.
