Brooklyn ‘Igloo’ Gets Iced by Airbnb’s Rental Rules
Airbnb eventually removed the post Sunday night because it did not comply with their building codes.

A group of friends that live together in NY chose to take advantage of the insane blizzard that recently hit the city and built a super chic and cool igloo.
“Dripping with ingenuity and alt-lifestyle aura lays the Snopocalypse of 2016’s most desirable getaway”.
The “Boutique Winter Igloo for 2” was listed in Brooklyn, offering many traits to attract holiday-goers looking for a carbon neutral trip. While Airbnb said the domed structure was “very well constructed”, it didn’t meet the site’s rules for occupancy, not having electricity, piped water, or a door.
Horton, a bit bewildered by the enthusiasm that the listing generated, later tweeted that Airbnb had nixed the listing. Smoking is allowed, though in an igloo, probably not encouraged.
According to DNAinfo, the joke was the handiwork of Patrick Horton and his roommates.
Still, “as an appreciator of fine igloos around the world”, the rep offered Horton a $50 coupon on his next Airbnb rental.
But freelance art director Patrick Horton said his icy listing lasted on the property-sharing website just six hours before he was informed that it was being removed for not meeting occupancy standards.
Rather than using the freezing weather as an excuse to stay indoors all weekend, Patrick Horton and pals chose to wrap up and get out in the snow.

Mr Horton told ABCNews US that he is intending to post the advertisement on Craigslist and has been contacted by people interested in renting the igloo.
