Brooks, Oregon end Arizona’s 49-game home win streak

That’s a combination of tougher nonconference scheduling (Arizona and Utah have BYU, Arizona State has Texas Tech in a must win big year for Kliff Kingsbury, Oregon State has Minnesota and Boise State, Cal has Texas) as well as the fact that I think the teams that are better in the Pac-12 will make fewer missteps in 2016 than they did in 2015.

A dominant first half performance lifted the No. 8/9 Oregon State women’s basketball team to a 71-43 win over Arizona Friday afternoon at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Ore.

This game marks the season’s first head-to-head clash between these conference foes.

Senior forward Dwayne Benjamin wasn’t on that Ducks team, but he was on the squad that won 26 games last season but got run by 34 when they visited Arizona last January. OR on the other hand is coming off of a huge win at Arizona.

But the Beavers stopped executing on offense late in the game and didn’t stick close to York enough from 3-point range in the zone defense, he said. The Ducks switch incredibly quick and just want the ball more than the opposing team.

Schaftenaar, with his 14 points, returned to double digits in scoring for the first time since he had 13 in the Pac-12 opener against Oregon. Alford scored 17 of his game-high 28 points in the final 5½ minutes, rallying UCLA from an 18-point, second-half deficit to an 82-79 lead. Michael Phelps and the curtain of distraction did their best and the Sun Devils won in Tempe over the Beavers, 86-68.

The Sun Devils came at the Ducks with full court pressure, as the Ducks slowly began to fall apart.

The game started inauspiciously for ASU, as they fell behind 13-0 less than five minutes in. Arizona defeated Oregon State 80-63.

“The third quarter honestly just came down to mental lapses and that was our fault”. “They got physical wing plays who just drive it into you”. “We just have to keep getting better”. Kat Cooper would enter the break with four three pointers as the Ducks extended their lead to 37-26 over Arizona. She hit a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. The bad news is that the Beavers have dropped 4 of 5, have been a different team every night, and they have to play a stinging Wildcat team at McKale. “He made a major contribution to the game”. Alleyne and Cazorla were able to grab an impressive nine points with 30 seconds remaining. That was the longest such active streak in the country until Brooks and the Ducks rolled through.

“We had such a great effort in the first half; wasted in the second”.

“I’d like to congratulate OR on a job well done”, a dejected-looking Arizona coach Sean Miller said afterward. The basketball is competitive, the results not forgone conclusions, there are some high-end college players and pro prospects and they’re all as capable of doing some damage in the 2016 NCAA Tournament as anyone, given the unpredictability of this season. They hit shot-after-shot, and I was wondering if they were ever going to miss! Anderson scored 16 in the first half. “We can’t let that happen again”. That’s not on the coaches at all. With more seven and eight conference wins teams, that means there will also be more one, two and three conference wins teams.

CHICAGO (AP) – Aleesha Powell made all five of her 3-point shots and scored 24 points and Seton Hall used a lopsided start to beat Big East leader DePaul.

OSU trails only No. 1 Florida, No. 2 Louisville, No. 3 Vanderbilt and No. 4 Texas A&M.
