Browns coach focused on Steelers, not worrying about future
But mostly a business-like attitude.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel (2) throws a pass during the first half against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
When the Kansas City Chiefs were 1-5 and heading into the final 10 games on their schedule, there wasn’t anybody talking about them making the playoffs. In addition, most 23-year-old National Football League stars are free to enjoy their time away from the field as they choose so long as they aren’t harming themselves or those around them.
His teammates, however, didn’t seem to be having a merry time when they lost to the Chiefs 17-13 on Sunday.
Down 17-3 at halftime, Manziel brought back the Browns, who outplayed the Chiefs in the second half and almost pulled off the upset.
Unable to get off one last play deep in Kansas City territory before the clock expired, Manziel yanked off his helmet and slammed it to the ground in frustration.
“I’m definitely shouldering a lot for this loss”, he said. “Regardless of what our record is, where we are in the season, it sucks not to win, especially when our coach and the other 10 guys put us in a position to try to get us in the end zone there at the end”.
That comes just a few weeks after a similar video of him doing the same thing was published and it remains to be seen if he will face action like he did then. “He made mistakes, but I think some of the mistakes he had made in previous games you would have considered critical ones, where it was giving up a sack or a penalty at a bad time”.
In the loss, Manziel completed 13-of-32 passes (40.6 percent) for 136 yards with an interception and a rating of 40.6 and had 11 carries for 108 yards. They opened the second half with a nine-play, 82-yard scoring march that was capped by a 10-yard run by Isaiah Crowell. “This will only be positive when you look back at the foundation”. “Sometimes you run into a bump in the road in your life and you just kind of work through it”, said head coach Andy Reid.
The Chiefs looked as if they’d make this one easy in the first half, driving downfield for a TD on their opening drive.
Johnny Manziel is in his second, ahem, interesting season with the Browns. The attempt was blocked by Chiefs’ safety Daniel Sorensen, who was able to get a hand on it at the last second. “Those sources indicate that the bigger problem within the Browns’ organization is not Pettine but is actually general manager Ray Farmer and the selections that Farmer has made throughout his tenure, and even before that when he was under [former Browns CEO] Joe Banner”. It was Peters’ team-high eighth pick of the season, tying Bobby Hunt’s club mark for rookies set in 1962.
With their ninth straight win on Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs are in.
DETROIT – Matthew Stafford threw for two touchdowns, including one to Calvin Johnson early in the fourth quarter for Detroit. “For a defensive guy he’s a headache”. That is why when you talk to our players in the locker room, they respect him because they are with him every day. He just crossed 1,000 yards yesterday, the first time a Chiefs receiver has done so since 2011.
Pettine did not have injury updates for kick returner Raheem Mostert (ankle) and wide receiver Marlon Moore (concussion) but said Mostert’s injury wasn’t as severe as initially believed.

Quarterback Alex Smith completed 15 of 22 passes for a season-low 125 yards. All told, Cleveland rolled up 368 total yards in the contest but still only managed a 13 points.
