Browns coach: Josh McCown done for season with injured collarbone
That’s bad news for Cleveland as McCown has quietly had one of the best seasons a Browns quarterback has had since the franchise’s rebirth in 1999.

Pettine would not say if Davis would remain the starter if McCown is out.
“We’ll take everything into consideration and make the decision that’s best for the team”, Pettine said Wednesday.
In his eight games this season, McCown completed 186 of 292 passes for 2,109-yards, with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions and his final quarterback rating was 93.3. Manziel, the 22nd overall pick in last year’s draft, partied during the brief vacation, then lied to the Browns after a video showing him singing, dancing and holding a large bottle at a nightclub appeared online.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns are signing free agent quarterback turned wide receiver Terrelle Pryor today. Tuesday afternoon, head coach Mike Pettine announced during a conference call that McCown suffered a broken collarbone and is done for the season.
“That play with Benjamin, I should have been right there, but I was locked in with someone else” Hill said about the touchdown pass. “I was praying though”.
Quarterback Matt Schaub, making his first start since 2013, threw two touchdown passes for the Ravens (4-7), who seem to take every game to the wire.
Pettine said, “Yes”, to the question of whether it would be his decision.
The 2-9 Browns are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. Pryor, a former starting quarterback with Oakland, was in training camp this summer with Cleveland as a receiver, but was one of the last players cut.
McCown was already dealing with injuries heading into the game, but the benching of Johnny Manziel meant McCown was back in the starting role. But with the season essentially over, the Browns need to decide how long Manziel will be punished for lying to the team.
On Monday night, Pettine couldn’t tell reporters what the Browns’ plan would be. Despite some incriminating photos, Pettine said the coach’s game tape does not show the Ravens lined offside on the blocked field goal.

“It’s hard to just have that be a project for a year, so we are looking for the returns on that investment to be a little bit sooner than later”.
