Browns expected to name QB starter early in camp

Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III answers a question during a news conference at the practice facility Wednesday, April 6, 2016, in Berea, Ohio. Washington’s first-round pick, Josh Doctson, has been bothered by a sore left Achilles’ tendon since May and the Redskins put the rookie wide receiver on the physically unable to perform list.

“It’s one of the keys to victory. We’ll continue to get a handle on the situation and we’ll work with Josh through that”. “There’s nothing we’re going to be able to do to force Josh to change”, Brown said. “The team and everyone can get behind the guy and move forward”. I think that is kind of the way he’s built.

“We shared those with him, and I truly believe that he wants to make it right, as well”, Jackson said. “He’s getting better and growing each and every day”. Now you’ve just got to come out here and have fun. Cleveland is going to rely on him heavily if they want to have any chance at competing in the AFC North and he is more than ready for that challenge. “I know he’s a big brother”. Again, it started yesterday with the conditioning test.

I have a great support staff here, more so than I’ve ever felt before.

In the time between the last minicamp and the start of training camp, Griffin worked with throwing guru Tom House.

Jackson is not a laid-back coach that accepts mistakes. And Jackson did all that while keeping the tempo of practice high.

“I think whoever earns that job is going to earn it out on this field”, Jackson said. It is just kind of who we are and how we go about it.

“We have got to go get another installation”. A former Pro Bowler, Haden is continuing to rehab from surgery in March.

Earlier this month, in the wake of two black men being shot and killed by police, Cleveland Browns running back Isaiah Crowell posted a controversial illustration to social media. “Not only for myself but for the well being of my family and be there for this team that held me together and allowed me to comeback”. When he first came back in the locker room, as soon as I saw him, I ran up to him, gave him a hug and was like, ‘J.G., I’m so happy for you to be back.’ He was like, ‘Bro, you don’t understand. [The Browns] definitely have things headed in the right direction. We all desperately want to win.

The Browns open training camp on July 29, and have their first preseason game 14 days later. The Browns will open the preseason on August 12 at Green Bay and Jackson said he will “definitely” have his starter in place by then. A promising rookie campaign led to a breakout 2013, with Gordon posting 87 receptions for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns. Gordon said he had taken the steps necessary “to better myself as a person off the field just as much as on”.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we look down the landscape that a receiver pops up”. He’s doing outstanding to me.

“He’s done a good job”.
