Sure, it’s week two of the NFL preseason, but there was plenty to take notice of during the Bills and Browns game Thursday.

In the Browns’ 11-10 preseason loss to the Bills on Thursday night, McCown was 7-of-10 for 57 yards and two interceptions. “I am not going to take a seat right here and speak about making an attempt to start out up a quarterback controversy”. And he looked an terrible lot like Josh McCown doing it, throwing a pair of ugly interceptions. It’s especially promising considering the performance from McCown, which isn’t going to solidify his spot to say the least.

The story of Johnny Manziel in his second season with the Cleveland Browns is one story that everyone is watching intently this season.

We’re looking to make some progress between now and next week. He said the team would not announce the starter unless the league made them or until right before or at the beginning of the Colts game on September 13th. Fortunately for him there is more preseason football to play, however if Manziel shows out again it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility that he would be named starter. He’s impressed the heck out of me, and I think he brings a certain X-factor to the offense, which can only be a good thing. Pettine said that McCown “is good to go” and won’t miss any practice time.
We’ll have some post-game analysis over the next couple of days at DBN, so keep checking back in. “We feel like we are close to getting some of our guys back, and also with the long break to Tampa, that is kind of a nice luxury to have”. For the Browns, Josh McCown is entrenched as the starter, but the always electric Johnny Manziel appears to be improving after a tumultuous rookie year.
