Browns name Hue Jackson as National Football League coach
Jackson has experience as a head coach, knows the AFC North and has fixed quarterbacks.

“What a tremendous honor and privilege to be the head coach of the Cleveland Browns and a part of the Dawg Pound”, Jackson stated via a team press release.
This speaks to the Browns’ new front office of analytically oriented executives such as Paul DePodesta and Sashi Brown having the same feelings about their new coach.
This was followed by the Browns agreeing to hire Jackson as their new coach on Wednesday. I get that. Who is flawless for every opportunity that’s out there?
It was an odd omission from Brown, especially since he and Scheiner have a history that dates back to working at the same D.C. law firm more than a decade ago.
The desire to become a head coach in the National Football League was so strong for Hue Jackson that he was willing to sign with the Cleveland Browns, who aren’t exactly a desired coaching gig.
He thinks he can do more for the Browns, who have never reached a Super Bowl.
The top candidates appear to be ex-Philadelphia coach Chip Kelly, ex-New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin and Tampa Bay offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.
He wanted to be here.
Cleveland’s first win in 2016.
The team conducted a second interview with Jackson on Tuesday after he first met with Cleveland’s search committee Sunday.
Jackson replaces Mike Pettine, who was sacked after going 10-22 in his two seasons.
The New York Giants are hiring offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo as their next head coach, a person familiar with the decision said. He’s been a head coach before. He has a great offensive mind.
Jackson set big goals in an address to team employees. “At the end of the day, we have some very real goals we want to attain and we understand it’s going to take a lot of hard work to do that”.
“We’re chasing greatness”, he said. That’s what we’re interested in doing. I think he communicates very well. “That’s what it’s all about”.
It’s understandable that Jackson would feel that way; Manziel talked a good game for much of the season and did little to back it up.
The Browns are his second shot.
“He has been one of the cornerstones of this organization and this football team”, Jackson said.
Jackson said he’s confident he can turn around the floundering franchise even though no one else has been able. I try to be innovative and cutting edge on offense.
Although nearly demanding that Johnny Manziel not be with the team isn’t really all that insane. Jackson believed Kaepernick was the best quarterback in that draft, better than No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton, but Kaepernick was benched by San Francisco this season. Manziel has been a major distraction during two drama-filled seasons with the Browns.

“I don’t know Johnny personally”, Jackson said. “I have to give everybody on our football team the fair opportunity to truly learn who they are”. Coaches are consistent in how they teach and how they do things that are always the most successful, even if that drives media people insane and even if that drives the people around them insane. Jackson was the one who got him to loosen up and enjoy playing football. After being fired when the Raiders fell on the other side of that year’s three-way tie atop the league’s worst division, Jackson returned to Cincinnati to rejoin the staff of his old ally Marvin Lewis.
