Browns QB Davis to start over Manziel
Regardless of who he was in St. Louis, Austin Davis could prove to be a much tougher opponent for Cincinnati than Manziel, as there is less tape on Davis from 2015 and uncertainty of how Cleveland will construct its offensive scheme against the Bengals. “I have a series of meetings scheduled”. I’ll discuss it more to determine our best course of action moving forward. “We are going to take everything into consideration and then make a decision for this week that is best for the team”.

As for Manziel, Pettine says his situation is a “weekly thing”, and that Manziel could again play at some point before the season ends. After being announced as the team’s starter Manziel was caught in the act of partying during the team’s bye week via video. He indicated Johnny Manziel will get another opportunity to start in at least one of the last four games.
Pettine clearly felt a one-week punishment wasn’t enough.
“I haven’t seen that”, Pettine said. “Just be ready to go and hopefully if you play well you get to play another week and build off of it”. But then Josh McCown broke his collarbone against the Ravens on Monday, meaning the quarterback spot became free once more.
Davis was criticized for his clock management late in the game, but the Browns had a chance to win with a late 51-yard field goal try.
Against the Browns on Monday night, Kaelin Clay, playing in just his second game, scored on an 82-yard punt return in the first quarter.
Davis completed 7 of 11 passes for 77 yards. However, with wide receivers Andrew Hawkins and Taylor Gabriel sidelined with concussions, the Browns have a major need at the position. The Ravens, mixing run and pass, surged back on top 24-20 with a 12-play, 80-yard drive capped with a 15-yard pass from Schaub to wide receiver Kamar Aiken. Pryor joined the Browns via waivers this offseason and spent training camp with the team before being waived on September 10. McCown left the game midway through the fourth quarter before Davis came in and had an up-and-down showing in his brief appearance.
Arizona Cardinals running back Chris Johnson’s next game could be the Super Bowl. Until the Browns figure a way to get more from their backs, winning will be hard.

No matter who starts, the Browns might seek depth at the position for the final five games. He had missed the previous two games with injured ribs, and Manziel, 22, started in his place.
