Browns QB Josh McCown will meet with coach about rib injury

I wish all the luck to Johnny Manziel and to the Browns faithful, with a season that’s started off 2-6 it’s time that a spark is made. The Browns are coming off a disappointing second half against the Arizona Cardinals and have lot two key member of their back seven on defense for this week. Other than the guys that are in the concussion protocol, we’ll expect all our guys to be out at practice. “Just given the unique nature of this week, essentially it’s a lot of walk-through stuff, so to have a guy out there, you can really work two guys as far as the huddle”.

“We had to keep pushing”, running back Jeremy Hill said. “They kept us in position on offense to win it”.

McCown said he was in more pain than during the game and that his ribs – likely broken, but he and Pettine won’t say – won’t be healed until the offseason. Not even four years since he took over the team, it appears primed to be a completely toxic environment with no hope in sight, fans’ patience tested and plenty of talented players’ prime years wasted while he continues to try to figure out how to run a team – or not. Assuming that Manziel was close to McCown in terms of ability and readiness (which is debatable), there is no incentive for Pettine to play Manziel if he is not the absolute best option to win games. “So that’s my mindset”.

With 20 sacks on the season, the Bengals could make the outing miserable for the physically ailing McCown. “There was no shopping from my perspective”, Farmer said. Despite the injury, McCown threw three TDs while going 18 of 34 for 211 yards. But the 2-5 Browns have often played better than their record suggests. The Bengals have learned from the bumps and bruises of the past and seem like they’re ready to let the football universe hear what they have to say. “If the training staff and Josh feel that he can play, that means he can play”. From the coaching philosophy to the players who are determined to win, the organization has been turned around.

“We’re playing for something greater than being 7-0, ” said receiver A.J.

“We feel good about where Johnny is and the direction that he’s headed”. Three defensive players and two offensive tackles are listed on the injury report.

Two years ago, Giovanni Bernard looked like he was the Bengals running back of the future.

For the second straight week, the Pittsburgh Steelers lost a very winnable game and this time it might have put a division title chance out of reach.

“I’m not wired that way”, he said. It was Manziel’s first taste of action on the field since leading the Browns to a 28-14 win over the Titans in Week 2. Pettine reinserted McCown into the starting lineup in Week 3 after he was medically cleared to return from the concussion.

Manziel was given a full week to prepare for Tennessee, but Thursday’s task is a tall order for the second-year passer: Rolling into Cincinnati to face an AFC heavyweight on a short week. Every team plays at least one game on Monday Night football, and the few teams that play at least a game per year in London technically have a hold on that time slot.
