Griffin was hurt in Sunday’s 29-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Griffin III’s injury came late in the fourth quarter, and unsurprisingly, it was on one of his elusive out-of-the-pocket runs that have for the most part become a figment of the past and our imaginations since he set the world on fire during his 2012 rookie season.

Cleveland’s quarterback curse claimed another victim. Though it sounds insane entering Week 2, here are five reasons McCown can lead the Browns to the 2016 AFC Playoffs. “It’s unfortunate but it does happen in this sport”. The Browns will re-evaluate him in three to four weeks.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III’s trip to injured reserve will cost him at least $375,000 in roster bonuses and a shot to earn most of $3.5 million in incentives.

“I don’t have the full scouting report on Josh McCown other than to say that he’s had a lot of success against us”, Harbaugh said. “He knows how to play”. But Griffin clearly was in pain. While favoring his left arm, Griffin only handed the ball off.

Jackson said Kessler has to be ready now that he’s a play away from playing. “I don’t think anybody knew to the extent of the injury. That’s a credit to Robert”.

Veteran Josh McCown is slated to be his replacement in Cleveland’s week-two home opener against the rival Baltimore Ravens. Griffin had to wait for the free agent market to shake out this past offseason before the Browns came calling. Jackson said. “We have a very capable backup”.

“It’s unfortunate that this happened to Robert, but it is comforting to know that Josh has played in National Football League games and knows how to win games, knows how to play games and play within the system”. “I learned a valuable lesson in that situation, but I was just having a little fun right there”.

Jackson said on Monday that the Browns will not be trading for a quarterback, citing the lessons he learned from a regrettable trade for Carson Palmer to replace the injured Jason Campbell back when he was head coach of the Raiders in 2011. The injuries haven’t helped.

“I will try to have a good day today and I will conquer the off-day tomorrow pretty good, I think, and then we will get going”, he said. He called his injury a sprained shoulder following the game, but acknowledged he was in quite a bit of discomfort. The key play was a third-down completion down the middle to tight end Martellus Bennett that set up Robbie Gould’s game-winning field goal.
