Browns will start Cody Kessler against Dolphins

Erving is expected to miss several games.

“It’ll be Cody”, Jackson said. This is a tough sport. He is always out there battling.

There was no hesitancy with Pitta, who showed once again that he is still an impact player. You’ve got to work hard, but for me, it’s nothing to prove.

Kessler is disappointed for McCown, but he is eager to validate Jackson’s faith in him. “We’re going to figure it out this weekend, though”. “That is what we are going to term it”.

“Me. Nah, just kidding”. I think it’s more of a deep sprain at this time than anything. “There is no question about that”.

“I’ve been preparing as a starter since I got here, since rookie minicamp really”.

The Browns will likely bring up rookie QB Kevin Hogan from the practice squad to serve as the backup, and use QB-turned-WR Terrelle Pryor as the third-string option, just in case.

Kessler was selected number 93 overall by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

After losing two starting quarterbacks in each of their first two games, the Cleveland Browns added veteran signal-caller Charlie Whitehurst, his agents announced Monday. Coach Hue Jackson announced the team will be going with its third-round pick from earlier this year this week against the Miami Dolphins.

“Obviously, he is the next guy up”, Jackson said of Kessler, a four-year starter at USC who struggled during training camp and the exhibition season. Kessler is confident he will be prepared for Miami.

In 2015, while splitting time with the Titans (12 games) and Colts (six), the journeyman completed 16-of-32 pass attempts for 150 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception, including playing against the Browns. If I had to go in and that opportunity came up, I didn’t want to be freaking out. “We’ll see what that statement was all about”.

“I know it’s in the shoulder/clavicle area”, Jackson said. “I’ve seen him do some things he needs to improve at”.

It’s fair to say that no one saw it getting this bad for the Browns this quickly. But I know that there’s something that’s not right. “It is either going to improve it or do something to it, right?” He ran out of the back of the end zone for one safety and was tackled for another safety.

Quarterback Joe Flacco’s 25-of-45 showing for 302 yards with two touchdowns and the combination of tight end Dennis Pitta and wide receiver Mike Wallace carried the comeback. “I don’t want to be out without my guys”. The Browns hope to get Nassib back before long, even if he’s in a cast. He planned to play against the Dolphins but won’t get the chance. “We wish it was not like this, but this is how it is”. Although ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that rookie Cody Kessler would get the start behind center in Week 3, he could now have some competition.
