Browns WR, Baylor-ex Corey Coleman breaks hand in practice

Both those injuries occurred during Sunday’s game. He was the 15 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Baylor, led all rookie wideouts in receiving touchdowns (2), was second in receiving yards (173), yards per catch (24.7) and yards per game (86.5) and sixth in receptions (7).

Coleman’s injury comes on the heels of the Browns losing starting quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown in the first two weeks this season. This week against the Miami Dolphins, rookie quarterback Cody Kessler will also be short a playmaker.

Coleman caught five passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s loss to the Ravens.

Facing a third-and-10 after gaining back the 10 yards lost because of an offensive pass interference penalty, McCown took the shotgun snap from center Cameron Erving, dropped back in the pocket and lofted the pass deep down the left side of the field. It is presumed that veteran slot receiver Andrew Hawkins will start in Coleman’s place, with rookies Ricardo Lewis and Rashard Higgins contributing in three-receiver sets.

The Cleveland Browns, an alleged National Football League team, are so thoroughly screwed.

If you know a Browns fan, and he doesn’t bite, maybe go out of your way to give him a hug today, because he probably needs it. With Josh Gordon’s return from suspension still a couple of weeks away, the Browns look very thin at wide receiver.
