Bruno Mars joins Super Bowl halftime show

We’ve watched all of the other halftime shows many times, and majority are fantastic. “I feel like Donald Trump”, the Coldplay frontman quipped.

Fans can officially brace themselves for a field full of color, choreography and “big dynamics”, much like the vibrant and uplifting theme of the band’s seventh studio album, A Head Full of Dreams.

“The 50th Super Bowl takes place this weekend, with a halftime show by Coldplay featuring a guest appearance by Beyoncé with the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s charismatic conductor, Gustavo Dudamel, leading members of Youth Orchestra Los Angeles”.

It remains to be seen how well Coldplay’s performance this year will be regarded, but before they take to the stage, let’s look back at the halftime performances of the last five years.

“I think we’re firmly split down the middle between those of us who know absolutely nothing about football and those of us who know nearly absolutely nothing about football”, guitarist Jonny Buckland told a news conference.

Mars previously teamed with the Red Hot Chili Peppers to headline the 2014 Super Bowl halftime show; Beyoncé performed with Destiny’s Child in 2013.

“We decided we wanted to make it about togetherness, acceptance and the things we believed in”.

In 2012 it was announced that the queen (no, not that queen) would be performing the Super Bowl halftime show.

When asked who they were rooting for the band offered up a response as inoffensive as their oeuvre.

“She said, “How are you feeling about the Super Bowl?’ I said, ‘Of course we’re a little bit nervous.’ [And] she said, ‘Dad, the worst that could happen is that you’ll get turned into a meme”.
