At least one cabin has burned.

“Our main concern is structure defense”.

At the peak of the response, some 185 personnel from multiple agencies, including VCFD, the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Los Angeles Fire Department, were in both air units and on the ground fighting to contain the blaze.

Several other fires burned several acres in Ventura and San Diego counties.

The fire started at or near a cabin just off highway 39 north of the Azusa/Glendora area.

The fire is burning in the same area as the Aug. 14, 2014, Shoemaker Fire and Aug. 17, 2014, Tecolote Fire.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District issued a smoke advisory, warning that air quality will reach unhealthy levels in smoke-impacted areas in the mountains and downwind of the fire.

The city of Glendora said in a Facebook post that there was no immediate threat to residents at this time. They’ve also said there is no threat to homes within Azusa, as the fire appears to be spreading north, away from the city.

Gusty winds quickly drove the flames through 100 acres of brushy ridges near the Los Angeles suburb.
