WNBC reported that there were two separate brush fires in the region: One in Secaucus and one in Kearny.

The Kearny fire – located off Harrison Avenue near I-280 and the New Jersey Turnpike – may have restarted and gone to a third alarm around 12:45 p.m., NJ.com stated. New Jersey Transit said Midtown Direct trains are being diverted to Hoboken beginning with train 6640.

PATH, a commuter train service connecting Newark, Hoboken and Jersey City with New York City, is honoring NJ Transit tickets.

The National Weather Service issued a “red flag” warning along parts of the Northeast because of conditions increasing fire risk.

If you are headed north on Amtrak, be sure to check before you head to the station: Some train service has been suspended because of a brush fire outside of Newark.
