Bryan – City can compete

Despite hinting that he could rest ever-presents Daniel Ayala and Adam Clayton, the Spaniard chose to make changes in other areas with David Nugent, Christian Stuani and Yanic Wildschut all drafted in at the expense of in-form Diego Fabbrini, Albert Adomah and Kike.

Steve Cotterill said he was “delighted” with the victory. “The only people that won’t be surprised is Sheffield Wednesday, Brentford and Leeds (the previous three sides City have played) because we’re not bad”.

“Bristol City can offer him things that I couldn’t offer for him, so it’s not a problem for me”.

There are a few weeks now before we next play at the Riverside and we need to impress and bounce back on the road.

“As the coach, I have to look at all the players and see how they are in training and try to pick the best 11 for the game”.

Admittedly, it was more a case of a cool finish rather than costly errors on our part, but you couldn’t help feel that the mass changes administered to the team had contributed in no small way.

The visitors, newly-promoted after last year’s League One title success, led earlier and saw the job out well with BetVictor responding by easing Aitor Karanka’s side to 3/1 (from 5/2) to be crowned champions and 11/10 (from 10/11) to be playing top-flight football next term.

“It was only a matter of time before we did win”. “It’s hard for me to understand the performance”. I don’t know what happened; we didn’t play how we usually do.

Karanka admitted defeat was a setback, but insisted City’s performance came as no surprise. Yes, that is disappointing.
