According to Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper will be suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball for his actions occurring on Monday night.

Harper was ejected in the ninth inning of Monday night’s game against Detroit by Knight for arguing balls and strikes from the dugout.

The very next batter pinch-hitter Clint Robinson smacked a walk-off home run and with it the Nationals flooded onto the field to celebrate like any other walk-off.

Harper pointed at Knight on the field and cursed at him.

Harper was tossed from the game at that point.

Harper is in the midst of appealing the suspension, which meant that he was able to play in tonight’s series finale against the Detroit Tigers, where we witnessed Nationals starter Max Scherzer go for 20 strikeouts. After the game, Harper admitted he had some choice words for Knight but didn’t back down, still believing Knight had erred.

Harper’s punishment was handed down by Joe Garagiola Jr., Senior Vice President of Standards and On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball. I’ll pay it. So I think it deserves to, you know, maybe he’ll get fined, too.

Harper is by far and away the most exciting player in the game today. It is time for the he is young and passionate excuses to stop and for him rein himself in a bit, or these suspensions will continue to happen and hurt his team.

“Who’s not going to come out on the field and celebrate a game-winning home run?”

“Now, will I have to spank him sometimes?”
