BSF foils infiltration bid, guns down three intruders in Ajnala

A day after a Pakistani national was arrested from near Vighakot border in Kutch, Border Security Force (BSF) seized two Pakistani fishing boats from Harami Nala off Kutch coast but fishermen on board managed to run away.

A BSF official said that a night patrol party of the force spotted three Pakistani intruders entering Indian territory and asked them to surrender.

BSF shot dead three Pakistani intruders, early in the morning today around 4.00 A.M, said BSF official. This village is fifteen kilometers away from Ajnala village on the global border falling in the Amritsar district but the encounter took place in Gurdaspur district. The intruders didn’t pay any heed to BSF’s warning and instead shot at them following which BSF personnel also opened fire. Since it is prohibited zone, it is also rich fishing ground and Pakistan fishermen intrude in the hope of better catch.

The intruders, who are in their twenties, are yet to be identified.

BSF (Punjab Sector) Inspector General of Police Anil Paliwal confirmed the shootout. After the encounter, BSF recovered three Pakistani mobiles and Indian currency from the spot.
