BSF jawans, 1 terrorist killed in encounter in Machhil sector of J&K

Three BSF men were killed and as many injured in an attack reportedly carried out by terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday to avenge the death of its commander Burhan Wani.

One militant and two BSF jawans were killed while five other security force personnel were injured in the initial firefight between the two sides, the official said.

According to defence sources, the security forces comprising the Army and the BSF noticed suspicious movement at the LoC in Machil sector of Kupwara in wee hours on Monday. “I will let you know if there will be something important to share”, said an Army official.

He said during the combing operation, a gunfight erupted between the soldiers and the militants. “The condition of another jawan is critical”.

The slain BSF personnel were identified as sub inspector Mohinder Yadav, head constable CP Singh and constable Baban Saha. The combing operation in the area was going on.
