In a swift action following outrage over Dayashankar Singh’s controversial remarks, the BJP had on Wednesday expelled him.
Some BSP leaders had made derogatory references against Singh’s wife and daughter during a protest on Thursday. She said after the sloganeering, Singh’s 12-year-old daughter was in shock. He has said that BSP leaders were openly inciting their cadres against a certain community and a family, and asked how so many people were allowed to gather at Hazratganj on Thursday despite prohibitory orders in force. With a slogan “beti ke Samman me BJP maidan me” (BJP fights for the honour of the daughter), hundreds of BJP worker staged dharans at all the district headquarters demanding Siddiqui’s expulsion from the BSP.
In a statement, titled ‘Where is BJP Heading?’ Karunanidhi alleged that ever-since BJP came to power at the Centre, “some” in the party and the RSS have been creating “divisions and differences” in the country. “Rules that applied to my husband apply to BSP members as well”, Swati said.
Stating that her daughter was now in a state of trauma ever since her father’s controversy erupted, the disgraced former BJP leader’s wife said that her 12-year-old child had not point blankly refused to go to school or even leave home for that matter.
Questioning her commitment to the dalit cause, Sharma said she did not visit the home of any dalit woman who were sexually assaulted under the Samajwadi Party government.
