BT outage hits thousands of customers
BT customers have been hit by a major outage this morning which has left thousands unable to get online.

The company said: “Some BT Broadband customers have reported problems accessing websites this morning”.
Reports of BT’s broadband service being down started surfacing at around 9:30am BST this morning (Wednesday, July 20) and BT has confirmed it is now experiencing problems. Customers of Plusnet are also having problems.
According to internet service monitoring website downdetector.co.uk, United Kingdom customers have been reporting problems since just after 8am.
The country’s biggest internet provider reported outages in several areas at around 9.30am on Wednesday, which it put down to a power outage at a site in London.
A live outage map on DownDetector shows reports coming in from London, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Milton Keynes, Leeds, Nottingham, Bristol, Liverpool, and Leicester.

If you visit the official BT status page and then click on the tab “Broadband and Email” you will see ongoing issues. “We hope to have service restored as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing”.
