BTN analysts react to testimony Joe Paterno knew of abuse in 1976
According to his account, Paterno allegedly “just walked away.” And as the Centre Daily Times reports, a third Sandusky-related court case might eventually uncover more information about abuse claims settled by Penn State. Sandusky was convicted in 2012 of dozens of child sexual abuse counts and is serving decades in state prison. Paterno died from lung cancer in January 2012.

A lawyer for Paterno’s family issued a statement claiming there is evidence that “stands in stark contrast” to John Doe 150’s story.
The unsealed documents suggest other Penn State personnel directly witnessed Sandusky’s misconduct but failed to do anything about it.
When some allegations first emerged in a May court order for the Penn State-PMA case that some coaches in the 1980s may have known about Sandusky’s abuse of boys, Solicitor General Bruce Castor said state investigators had looked into those accusations during their Sandusky investigation and found them to be without merit.
In addition to containing revelations about what head coach Joe Paterno knew and when, documents unsealed Tuesday by a Pennsylvania court include a deposition given by former Penn State graduate assistant Mike McQueary, who became a key witness in Sandusky’s prosecution.
McQueary testified that Bradley said the assistant coach from the 1990s was Schiano, a Penn State assistant from 1990-95.
Bradley, now the defensive coordinator at UCLA, and Schiano, who holds the same position at Ohio State, denied witnessing any inappropriate behavior at Penn State.
The information in these unsealed documents formed the basis for numerous settlements offered to victims.
John Doe 101 said that Sandusky would frequently change what he was doing when he heard the push button entry to the room being activated to make it appear they were wrestling.
A man alleged he told the late head football coach Joe Paterno that he was assaulted by former assistant football coach Sandusky in a shower at the 1976 football camp, the day after the incident occurred. The accused said, “Specifically, yes”, noted the Daily Times. The university has paid $92 million to settle claims from 32 Sandusky accusers.
A lawyer who helped mediate claims against Penn State said last week the university was diligent in making sure the claims were backed up.
He said the university did not plan to comment and that its concern continued to be for Sandusky’s victims.
Barring a last-minute appeal, a Philadelphia judge is poised to unseal documents from an insurance lawsuit that could shed new light on allegations a boy told Penn State coach Joe Paterno in 1976 that assistant coach Jerry Sandusky molested him. In 2011, Schiano was asked whether he had ever seen during his six-year stint at Penn State any indications that Sandusky might be a child predator.

Doe 150 was 14 years old at the time of the incident and testified about it in court in 2014.
