While two-star recruit Jeffery Pooler rescinded his commitment to Maryland September 28, three of Maryland’s more high-profile commits from the Class of 2016 reiterated their allegiance to Edsall and his staff. That group included four-star quarterback Dwayne Haskins (Bullis School), who implied he still plans to put up big numbers at Maryland throwing to four-star commits D.J. Turner and Tino Ellis (DeMatha).
The Terps are trying to recover from the West Virginia game, when Rowe, the starting quarterback, threw four interceptions and was pulled for a backup. That leash might be extremely short however as the Terrapins turn their attention to #22 ranked Michigan. I hope our guys would understand it’s a different team. On the ground, Brandon Ross rushed for 129 yards in 15 attempts while Ty Johnson added 20 yards in four carries. Defensively, Michigan yields 121.8 yards in passing and 82.0 yards in rushing. Maryland didn’t get on the board until the fourth quarter on a 46-yard Daxx Garman pass to Jahrvis Davenport. 3. Regardless, having bookend defensive ends consisting of Yannick Ngakoue and Roman Braglio can lead to big time negative plays for the offense. There would certainly be more questions-and unlike this week, the coach will be expected to have actual answers. It appears that they’ll have plenty of opportunities when the basketball season begins. Edsall before this season received a 3-year extension, but getting to 7-5 will be a minor miracle this year, and really, is that all Maryland fans should be ready to expect? The odds are even for this game and the Over/Under (O/U) is unavailable at the moment. The advantage at Byrd Stadium surely is not as great of an advantage as the students provide for the basketball team at Xfinity Center.
Running back Johnson has been the last piece of the freshman puzzle at Maryland. Something has to give and it probably won’t be in the Terps favor.
Slowly but, surely, there seems to be a problem brewing in College Park.
