Sure, plastic cushioning’s goal is to protect fragile items from damage, but there are a lot of people who get plenty of enjoyment from popping it.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a shooting at Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania Monday evening, but investigators discovered no gunman, but instead say bubble wrap may be to blame.

Around 6 p.m. Monday, an Eastern University student called 911 after hearing what she thought was a gunshot.

Radnor Police called in Tredyffrin Township Police to assist in securing the area and investigating the report, which led to several buildings being placed in lockdown at about 5:45 p.m. A school official says that no weapons were found and there was no evidence of a weapon being fired.

Eastern University officials said in a statement posted on Facebook that they’re “thankful this event was not an actual gun related situation”.

It was determined the student had not heard gunshots, but simply someone popping bubble wrap nearby. They also thanked the campus community for its patience, and said that the student “took the correct action in calling 911”.
