Buckeyes, Wolverines climb in AP top 25 poll
Ole Miss 1-1 20. Florida State had a convincing win on Saturday, defeating Charleston Southern 52-8, something a lot of other ranked teams could not say.

Defending national champion Alabama kept its tight grip on the No. 1 ranking, claiming 56 of 61 first-place votes. Clemson’s 30-24 win caused it to fall from No. 2 to No. 5, while Georgia dropped from ninth to 16th after squeaking by Nicholls 26-24. Just two ranked teams (No. 15 TCU, No. 22 Oklahoma State) lost. Florida State moved into the No. 2 spot thanks to a second straight mediocre performance from Clemson, which dropped to No. 5 – behind Ohio State and MI – after struggling in a 30-24 home win over Troy.
No. 10 Louisville is in the top 10 for the first time since October 2013.
Toledo and Western Michigan did not receive any votes in the AP poll. The only new team to the top 10 is Louisville, while Georgia fall out of it despite not losing. But neither of those victories were particularly decisive, especially Saturday narrow escape against Sun Belt Conference member Troy. Unless Ohio State blows out Oklahoma, it’s likely either the Seminoles or Cardinals will jump to number 2 in next week’s poll. Officials from the MAC erroneously gave Central Michigan an untimed down at the end of the game. Florida State, however, took care of business both weeks, with a win over #11 ranked MS and now a 52-8 thrashing of Charleston Southern.

Sliding into their spots were No. 23 Florida, which rejoined the fray after being dropped last week, and No. 24 Arkansas, which was responsible for the aforementioned TCU loss. You can see the full coaches poll below, under this week’s AP poll.
