Bucks rebound with strong performance against Detroit

“If you’re relying on your emotion to play hard every night, like I’m really up for this game, then you’re going to have problems in an 82-game season”. No matter who comes in here, I going to come in with the same focus.

“I’m always ready; you’re always ready to go out there and help your team”, he said. “They just happen to be the only other team I have played for”.

The Bucks had lost three straight and five of six. But he signed a free-agent deal with Milwaukee in July. “We just can’t”, Detroit coach Stan Van Gundy told reporters after a 97-95 loss to Washington on Saturday. It just showed … you can still score 100 points when you don’t shoot a lot of threes.

Drummond had 15 points and 14 rebounds at halftime. He walked slowly up the court holding his left side after trying to defend Monroe.

“Long rebound, tried to get it”, Mayo said. “We know he doesn’t like contact”.

Van Gundy hinted that if he didn’t find a time for Hilliard to get into a game soon, he might consider sending the rookie to the Grand Rapids Drive, the NBDL affiliate, to get some playing time and avoid losing his timing.

The 22-year-old Drummond is averaging a league-leading and career-high 17.6 rebounds on the season, in addition to 18.1 points.

Milwaukee put forth one of its best shooting nights of the season, hitting 43 of 83 shots and nine of 13 3-point attempts. The Bucks took the final three meetings last season by an average of 14.3 points.2.

Greg Monroe dominated against his former team during a 109-95 win over the Pistons on Monday, scoring 20 points with 13 rebounds, one assist and two steals in 31 minutes. The Bucks beat Detroit for the fourth consecutive game. Pistons guards Brandon Jennings (Achilles) and Jodie Meeks (right foot surgery) remained inactive Monday night.

All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins injured his back in Sacramento’s last game and his availability is uncertain for Wednesday night’s game in Milwaukee.

After the game, Mayo received seven stitches after taking an elbow from Johnson but said he didn’t think it was intentional. “Not a bad play”. We had guys driving, the ball touching the paint and good things happened.

I suppose Kevin Love and Ersan Ilyasova aren’t two of the NBA’s finest shot-blockers or leapers, so maybe dunks over them are a smidge less impressive, but it’s still great to see how aggressive Parker gets when he sees an opportunity for a strong finish.
