Bucky & Falcon Use Cap’s Shield in “Captain America: Civil War” Deleted Scene

I think him dropping that shield is him letting go of that identity.

Civil War became a high-point for the Marvel Universe by being a low point for its characters, in particular the star-spangled Avenger. “It’s him admitting that certainly the identity of Captain America was in conflict with the very personal choice he was making”. And it’s not possible that he could hand the shield off to Falcon (whereabouts unknown, although if we did know, it’s not like he’s welcomed back considering he is a fugitive) or the Winter Soldier (cryogenic sleep) since they are otherwise indisposed.

Captain America: Civil War will officially be arriving on Digital HD, Digital 3D and Disney Movies Anywhere on September 2 and on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD and On-Demand on September 13.

What that likely means is that Steve Rogers has stepped away from his superhero identity at this time of crisis between the Avengers, and perhaps even more so because of how the government has made it their responsibility to supervise the Avengers and use them to fight their battles like some kind of superpowered military. He too loses faith in the Avengers, but it’s not just the uniform he sheds in Civil War. While Thor’s hammer determines the worth of its wielder, Steve Rogers makes this decision himself, because he knows that Captain America needs to stand for something better…

In the wake of the game-changing events seen in Captain America: Civil War, many fans have wondered what the status of the titular character’s onscreen mantle may be. But without Downey and Iron Man, it would have lacked the emotional heft and tension that had been built up between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark over the course of the previous films. And if he isn’t Captain America, then who is??

There was a failsafe plan in place if Captain America: Civil War had not been able to explore the clash between Team Iron Man and Team Cap – and it would have involved Chris Evans’ hero facing down a demented zombie-like horde.

However, before we see those movies released, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther will all hit the big screen.
