Bucs vs. Dolphins postponed until Week 11 due to Hurricane Irma

Tampa and Miami could play on a neutral site on Sunday (Pittsburgh and Philadelphia have been rumored) or play earlier/later in the week, also likely at a neutral site.

The NFL is mulling whether to relocate or reschedule the Miami Dolphins’ season-opening game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday due to the approach of Hurricane Irma, according to multiple reports.

“How about promoting the game back home in an area that potentially will be rebuilding from a killer storm?” The Steelers will take on the Browns Sunday, but they are playing in Cleveland and not at Heinz Field. However, the league and teams ultimately decided postponement was the best choice.

Unfortunately, our nation is once again faced with the proposition of bracing for an impending storm as Hurricane Irma moves toward South Florida.

The NFL made a decision to postpone the game rather than moving it to a neutral site so that players and team staff can take care of their families as Irma approaches, ESPN reported.

We still don’t know when or where this one will be played, but the league has to render a decision quickly.

“Like 16 weeks straight?”

“Let’s be honest about it; it’s a long season”, Miami Pro Bowl receiver Jarvis Landry said.

Irma’s arrival marks the second time in as many weeks USA airline operations will be disrupted by a powerful storm.

Irma is now a Category 5 hurricane with winds increasing to 185 miles per hour.

“I’ve never been through anything like that”, said Gase, a MI native in his second season with the Dolphins.

“I just don’t think that’s feasible, whether I would have liked that or not”, Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter said of the potential option of moving the game.

On Tuesday, Barry Jackson and Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald provided comments about the situation from quarterback Jay Cutler, who lamented the possibility of a lost bye week. The team said yesterday it would allow families to travel with them because of the storm threat.

United said in a statement it “did not change how we priced our seats for flights out of Florida”, but added that for the additional flights the airline added, fares were reduced “beyond what a regular last minute fare would be”.
