Budget Deal cuts Social Security Benefits, Eligibility for SSDI

Republicans who oppose the deal will no doubt try to attach attacks on Planned Parenthood to the spending bills, but they have been warned. “To raise the debt ceiling with no fiscal reforms in the budget process to stop the debt explosion guarantees near trillion dollar deficits for as far as the eye can see”.

During the era of House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, it’s become popular in conservative circles to blast Republican leadership for surrendering.

Matsui’s Sacramento-area Democratic colleague, Rep. Ami Bera, also said his “sense is that this is going to be as good as we’re going to get”. “We are up against a deadline”.

Norm Ornstein, an expert on politics and Congress at the American Enterprise Institute, said the “anger against the establishment” with the Republican electorate is “probably going to grow” as a result of upcoming congressional actions such as the budget deal.

There were potential ramifications in either direction. He said he watched as Boehner ironed out differences with other lawmakers to pass the 2001 No Child Left Behind. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is the likely victor, though Rep. Daniel Webster (R-Fla.) is still in the race.

Paul Davis Ryan was born January 26, 1970 in the small town of Janesville, in the Midwestern state of Wisconsin, where his Irish-Catholic family has lived for five generations. “Putting together a very complex bill and giving members less than 48 hours to read it, study it and vote on it with virtually no input”. He added, “This is not the way to do the people’s business”.

“I made it clear a month ago when I announced I was leaving that I wanted to do my best to clean the barn”, Boehner told reporters Tuesday.

For his part, Ryan withheld judgment on the agreement Tuesday but said the process by which it was negotiated – mostly in secret and at the leadership levels of Congress – “stinks”. By 2014, after two years of absence from the front pages, Ryan’s “no opinion” rating doubled to 37%, but the percentage viewing him negatively remained in the single digits. Boehner told him he’d serve on it. “It was an unbelievable experience”, Tiberi said. New eligibility procedures will be phased in for disability benefits, which Republicans boasted would save $168 billion long-term-money to be gouged out of the incomes of those who are too sick or injured to continue working. “The alternative was a clean debt ceiling or default on our debt and also means we got to December 11th without facing another government shutdown so when you look at the alternative it starts to look a whole lot better”.

In a closed-door meeting, Boehner attempted – for the last time – to sell his skeptical rank-and-file on the legislation. GOP lawmakers gave the avid golfer a golf cart as a parting gift with the license plate: “Mr SPKR”.

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., holds up a hard drive as he questions IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, during the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation, and Regulatory Affairs hearing.

The deal frees up millions in domestic spending for the islands and offers a way forward for the FY ’16 defense bill, key for the military build-up and added military academy slots for the NMI.

From 1992 to 1997, Ryan worked for a Republican senator in Washington and for Empower America, the organization founded by the influential conservative Jack Kemp, who took young Ryan under his wing. “It’s not bad to have the Speaker – the third most powerful person in the country – to call you by your first name and when you’re back home to say to others in my district that I’m his friend”. “I don’t think there have been any hearings”.

“There are really three groups in our conference”. A super-majority of the Freedom Caucus announced their support for Ryan, in spite of their ideological differences, because Ryan assured the group he would return the House to “regular order” and implement a more “bottom-up” approach to governing. The real battle within the GOP is not between professional politicians and a crew of yeoman farmers who set down their plows to come to the nation’s rescue, it is between conservative politicians who accept the fact that, sooner or later, the business of government needs to get done and conservative politicians who are convinced government is public enemy No. 1.
