Budget revolutionary for poor, farmers: CM

The Budget has certainly outperformed people’s expectations on nearly all fronts and it will have a multiplier effect on our economy.

“Farmers look towards governments after God and it is imperative on us to ensure that the farmers are looked after well”, the prime minister said.

Highlighting the benefits of the newly launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the PM said that the crop insurance scheme was a “Suraksha kavach” for the farmers.

One of India’s biggest and most politically crucial states, Uttar Pradesh goes to the polls next year. They have total deposits of Rs33,379 crore, he was quoted as saying by sources.

Singh said that the Budget has also provided for a health cover of up to Rs 1 lakh to BPL families which shows this governments concern for poor and needy.

“A sum of Rs 2.87 lakh crore will be given as grant-in-aid to gram panchayats and municipalities as per recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission”.

Modi said the budget also lays thrust on the national security by having provisions for boosting defence manufacturing and providing the armed forces with modern and potent equipment.
