Buffalo Bills fire offensive coordinator Greg Roman

Though it was the defense mostly to blame for Buffalo’s home defeat to the Jets on Thursday Night Football, it’s offensive coordinator Greg Roman who’s been fired by Rex Ryan. The boos came back in the second quarter, as the next two Bills drives came up empty and Buffalo ran a draw play on a penalty induced third-and-30.

Prior to hiring Ryan to succeed Doug Marrone as their head coach last season, the Bills interviewed Roman for the vacancy. The Bills were torn apart consistently, specifically in the red zone, and to top all of this off, the only thing their defense did that was even worth noting, was pick up an ugly Jets fumble and take it back to the house for a touchdown. The next it’s their defense.

There’s no word yet regarding what exactly led head coach Rex Ryan to his decision.

In improving to 1-1, The Jets avoided a tremendous early season scare during the second quarter of a 37-31 victory over the Buffalo Bills (0-2) on Thursday night.

Baltimore’s defense was able to hold them back most of the game. “It looked like a mismatch”.

It may be more of a poor working relationship with the Ryan Brothers because it hasn’t been the Bills offense that has the team in an 0-2 hole. The catch helped set up Decker’s 5-yard touchdown catch that put the Jets up 20-7.

Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 24 of 34 passes for 374 yards and a touchdown against his former team.

“Well right now it looks daunting against anybody”, Ryan said.

“That’s something we definitely talked about going into the game”, Taylor said. Arizona has, arguably, one of the better defenses in the National Football League, and will be a tough matchup with the solid depth all around. “But I’m not the person to put my head down”. But he said Gilmore apologized for the ffacemask, saying he was just trying to get him down.

The Jets (1-1) snapped a five-game skid against Buffalo, which included a 22-17 season-ending loss in January that eliminated NY from the playoffs.

NY (1-1) bounced back from a last-minute loss in the opener at Cincinnati on Sunday. He hit the two deep passes against the Ravens, but there were players running open down the middle of the field that he just flat missed, again. “Always thought he’s a tremendous coach and I still believe that”, Ryan said. I thought at the end of past year, we did a great job of getting him the football. WRs Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa each hauled in more than 50 yards on the night.

After returning a few minutes later, Marshall caught another four balls to finish with six catches for 101 yards. But this guy is an outstanding coach and I’m excited to see him get this opportunity. Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw for 298 yards and three TDs. JP Losman was the last to do that in 2006.

But part of the problem is the Sammy Watkins injury. That group finished 15th in points allowed and 19th in yards allowed last season.
