The announcement will be made at Ralph Wilson Stadium at 3pm.

Ralph Wilson Stadium hosted the NHL’s first Winter Classic on January 1, 2008.
St. Louis Blues President and CEO of Business Operations, Chris Zimmerman, issued the following statement regarding the decision to award the 2018 World Junior Championship to the city of Buffalo.
One of the people added that one of the tournament games will be played outdoors at the home of the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.
The upcoming world junior tournament takes place in Helsinki, while Toronto and Montreal will again host in 2017.
Surely Buffalo’s bid was fortified by its successful hosting of the 2011 World Juniors and the construction of related facilities – the HarborCenter rinks and adjacent Marriott hotels – since that event. It is connected to First Niagara Center by an enclosed skywalk above the street. USA Hockey and the IIHF are now more than well aware the hockey spirit that St. Louis has, and its potential to host a major tournament such as this one. And I was proud to work with the Sabres and the Pegulas to support Buffalo’s application to host the tournament in 2018. Other cities being considered included St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Tampa.

Boasting the capability of selling out an outdoor game boosted Buffalo’s bid over the top. In the United States, NHL Network holds the tournament’s broadcast rights through the 2018 tournament.
