Buffett has been giving away blocks of Berkshire stock since 2006 with the biggest share going to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Warren Buffett made another massive donation to charity.

That includes Buffett’s education-focused charity, which is named for his late wife Susan, the Nebraska-based Sherwood Foundation, which is chaired by their daughter, the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, run by his older son; and the NoVo Foundation, run by his younger son, Peter. That stake is worth almost $24 billion. Last year, he gave away 21.7 million shares, now worth almost $3 billion.

Buffett typically makes his donations in July, reducing the number of shares by 5 percent from the prior year.

Buffett requires the money to be spent for the foundations’ operations and not to endow the foundations for the future.
