Burger King Moves Forward With Peace Burger, Minus McDonald’s
After McDonald’s snubbed Burger King’s proposal to create a “McWhopper” for Peace Day, BK has found allies in four other brands to create an epic sandwich that is conspicuously absent of McDonald’s ‘special sauce’. The burger will include elements of the Whopper, Denny’s Bacon Slamburger, Wayback’s Wayback Classic, Krystal’s cheese Krystal, and Giraffas’ Brutus.

The five restaurants will make just 1,500 burgers to be given away at an Atlanta pop-up shop on September 21, a United Nations recognized day of “non-violence and cease-fire”.
Officials from Burger King, in making their announcement could not refrain from tweaking the golden arches one additional time.
The Peace Day Burger will be offered for one day only in Atlanta at a pop-up restaurant on 1122 Northside Drive, with the sole objective of raising awareness for Peace Day and the Peace One Day organization.
The “McWhopper” will have its Peace Day, after all.
After McDonald’s declined to take part, several other national chains said they wanted to team up with Burger King.
A Burger King spokesperson told Entrepreneur that the company could not confirm plans to put a burger with black buns on the menu.
You have to show the peace sign (two fingers up forming a V) at the register to get the discounted food and you’re only allowed one per customer, according to the fine print.

“Our short term goal is to expose three billion people to Peace Day by 2016”, said Jeremy Gilley, founder of Peace One Day. The aim is to raise awareness regarding the global peace efforts that are now underway and to gain new supporters for this cause. “It’s a big target but it’s very possible, particularly with the support of the corporate sector – they have the resources and ability to raise awareness on a massive scale. The public wholeheartedly embraced the campaign and thousands of DIY McWhoppers have been created, reviewed, and shared on social media”.
