Burnley stun Liverpool 2-0 with classy double
Sam Vokes and Andre Gray scored their maiden Premier League goals for the 2-0 win.

“It was a hard game for us”.
The Wales global missed the first half of Burnley’s previous top-flight campaign with a knee injury which hampered his progress when he eventually came back but, after a confidence-boosting Euro 2016, the big frontman took Burnley’s first Premier League goal against Liverpool – and their first in the league in six matches – well.
“The first half was not good for growing self-confidence, we lost a little bit of our timing, patience, all that stuff”. It was not good.
“We know we lost a game in which we had 80 per cent possession today but there are different ways to play football”. I don’t think we deserved to lose last week and it was important to make it right this week.
One of the happier sides will be Liverpool, who got off to a flying start against Arsenal in their first game of the season, coming away from the Emirates as 4-3 winners.
But defensively, there were more than a few of the same problems that threatened to undermine their win in the capital in the previous game – as Burnley all too easily managed to score twice in the first 45 minutes. “Life is not over”, the German added.
“But even at half time I had the feeling that there was still a lot in this game for us”.
Sturridge was next to go close, curling a left-footed shot from just outside the penalty area inches wide as the frustration continued to build for the visitors.
“Our decision making was not good. It might have been forced by the result and by the passion of the opponent, but it is how it is”.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche’s tactical planning came to fruition against Liverpool.
He’s been developing nicely and he’s someone we really like.
“Make no mistake, they’re a fine side”.
“I don’t think there will be many teams who get the ball as much as Liverpool, they get so many bodies in there”. We thought we might have to work on the counter and get good pressing on their keeper, which we did.

“To come off their result last week and come here and us win 2-0 is certainly a coupon buster, but I think the organisation and belief of the players was fantastic and I’m pleased with them”.
