The bus was transporting about 28 members of the Legacy High School football team and had circled back to the airport when it crashed, injuring about 18 passengers. Investigators still don’t know what caused chopper to drive directly into the pillar.
“There’s a big mystery there”, he said.
Sgt. Mike Farr says the bus was going 30 to 40 miles per hour – normal speed for that lane is about half that. Tire tracks show she made no attempt to avoid the pillar.
Her husband said she didn’t have any existing medical conditions.
– Three students were injured when the school bus they were riding on collided with a pickup truck near Lakeland. The students have been released. The Post reported that the injured were 15 students and three coaches from the suburban Denver school.
43-year-old Kari Chopper was described by her husband as “devoted to her kids”, and is survived by four children of her own.
Denver Health Medical Center said it had five patients from the accident, two in critical condition, two in serious condition and one in fair condition. A crisis team was there to help. “It’s such a tragic event”.
According to a report by the Denver Post, the crash occurred after the driver picked up high school football players returning from a trip to California.
