An accident involving a auto and a bus carrying members of a university rowing team on Tuesday left the bus flipped over on its roof on a highway and killed one person, but no major injuries to students were reported. The Lehigh University Police Department also was at the accident scene.
According to the university, preliminary reports say no students suffered major injuries.
The Lehigh County coroner told NBC Philadelphia that one person was dead after the accident about 5:50 p.m. ET on westbound U.S. Route 22 near the Lehigh-Northampton county line.
A Lehigh rower on the bus tweeted to 69 News, “hi, I’m a Lehigh rower who was on the bus that got hit”. She says the students have been taken to hospitals for evaluation.
Bob Bruneio, the manager of Lehigh Transportation & Transit Services said the Lehigh Athletics bus driver is also at Cedar Crest.
