Bush swings at Trump, Rubio on national security

SC primary is going to give precisely clear indications as to what is going to happen with both Republican and Democratic presidential hopefuls.

Though Cruz and Rubio won’t be sharing the stage Wednesday, there’s a good chance for fireworks. Should Cruz come out of the first Southern primary with only a silver medal – despite a heavily conservative, evangelical electorate that should prove fertile for him – his campaign could be in real trouble. But by itself it may only help Senator Rubio survive, not leap into contention for front-runner status.

Bush has repeatedly sung Haley’s praises, even hinting that he would pick her as his vice presidential nominee should he be the choice of voters as the Republican nominee.

During a recent debate, Trump was critical of Bush’s handling of 9/11 as well as the invasion of Iraq.

Trump’s attacks on the other candidates have recently increased.

And Rubio needs her backing.

“Ted Cruz is a totally unstable individual”, said Trump in a statement.

Ted Cruz said today that Donald Trump’s lawyers have sent his campaign a cease and desist letter, and the Texas senator is calling the billionaire businessman’s bluff. Then Gov. Chris Christie (R) of New Jersey ripped him up for repeating memorized talking points.

Rubio aides said the moves were aimed at bringing the campaign’s ad spending down to the level of its competitors in SC, not a sign of financial troubles or an indication that the Florida senator was lowering expectations in the state.

In the previous NBC/WSJ poll released in January, Trump led Cruz by a 33-20 margin, a margin consistent with other national polls.

It is the President’s strongest criticism yet about any of the republican candidates who are running for president. But the OH governor’s decision to spend at least a part of the day in Vermont – home turf of Democratic candidate Sen. “Now he’s out there flailing his arms and making threats to not just Mr. Cruz but also to Mr. Bush”.

Haley is the South Carolina-born daughter of Indian immigrants and, at 44, the nation’s youngest governor. It’s a bigger blow to the former than the latter; the Bush family has long-established ties to Haley.

Much like Iowa, Cruz has an army of grassroots volunteers in SC, too. Perhaps it’s a quality of rehearsed artificiality. “Just too many voices right now”. He leads by double digits in opinion polls, and surveys show many of his supporters object to Ms Haley’s removal of the Confederate flag from the state capitol grounds.
