Travelers should absolutely leave additional time to get through airport security on Sunday.

Wharton said that while the airport is reviewing an operating contract with Uber officials, she said Uber drivers can still pick-up and deliver passengers at Newport News/Williamsburg global.
On Monday, the State Department issued a worldwide travel alert, citing “increased terrorist threats”.
Almost 47 million Americans are set to travel 50 miles or more from home for the holiday through Sunday, including 3.6 million who will fly on planes, according to AAA Travel. Of those making trips, almost 42 million will drive.
Wednesday is typically considered the busiest travel day of the year.

Changes will be obvious at United States airports, including longer waits, travel experts say. There were 40,609 full-time airport screeners in October, 5,000 fewer than the 45,874 there were in October 2011.
The Transportation Security Administration is recommending that travelers arrive at airports at least two hours before their flight during what the agency predicts will be the busiest travel season in its history. “The good news is that simple, safe driving behaviors, such as buckling up and increasing your following distance, can greatly reduce your chances of a deadly crash”.

Gas prices average $1.85 in SC – down from $2.59 last year – and $2.04 a gallon average in North Carolina, which is down 73 cents from a year ago. “Retail averages have fallen for 17 consecutive days for a total savings of 15 cents per gallon, and the national average remains poised to fall below the $2 per gallon benchmark by the Christmas holiday”, according to AAA.
The alert, which will remain in place until 24 February, advised Americans to avoid large crowds or crowded places and to “exercise particular caution during the holiday season”.
It’s true that pies aren’t strictly forbidden by the TSA in carry-on bags (cranberry sauce is subject to the 3-ounce rule), but it may require extra screening, slowing security lines.

“If they can’t inspect it and determine what’s in there, they will unwrap it, so that’s just one thing to keep in mind”.
