The Santacruz police have arrested a 26-year-old woman for allegedly murdering her paramour. “She said that they were in a relationship and she felt deceived by him after which she took this drastic step”, said senior inspector Shantanu Pawar of Santacruz police station. Ronita was arrested under section 302 (Murder) of IPC and remanded to police custody until September 3, Pawar said.
Involvement of some other persons in the case is not ruled out. Pascal confessed and said Rajput was pestering her to continue their relationship.Rajput was drunk, and they drove around several locations in the western suburbs. The police said Rajput ran a laundry business and lived with his wife and two children in Rajput cottage on K K Ganguly Marg in Santacruz (West). Rajput was rushed to Cooper Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Following sustained interrogation, Ronita broke down and confessed to her crime, the police said. His anxious family had started searching for him when he did not come home till late on Sunday and stumbled on his parked vehicle on S V Road by when the police had already reached the spot. They found that Rajput had been in an extramarital relationship with Ronita and was last seen with her.
