Businesses Near LA Memorial Coliseum Brace For Return Of Rams To LA
The Oakland Raiders could move to Los Angeles if the Chargers do not. USC said the initial round of improvements would begin after the 2017 season and be completed in 2019, which means that in 2018, the Trojans, Rams and Chargers could potentially be sharing a stadium while it undergoes major repairs.

Chargers Chairman Dean Spanos is now studying his team’s possibilities, which include moving to Inglewood to share a $1.6 billion stadium with the Rams, or pursuing a stadium project in San Diego, team special counsel Mark Fabiani said Wednesday.
The Rams are heading back to the L.A. area, which was their home from 1946-94. It is not easy to do these things, they are purposely made hard.
But for now, the only sure Los Angeles team is the Rams.
As fans celebrate the return of the Rams to Southern California, local businesses near the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum are bracing for the impact.
Goodell says NFL policy limits the league’s contribution to $100 million, and Kroenke has largely ignored the plan. “This was not a vote against St. Louis, which is a great city. In particular, we are interested in their justification for departing so significantly from the NFL’s guidelines after St. Louis had, in record time, presented a proposal for a first-class stadium”. “I’m going to attempt to do everything I can to keep the Rams in St. Louis”.
“I think it’s appropriate, and would be helpful, to have the right kind of “We’re back” campaign”, Carter said.
For years the National Football League has toyed with the idea of relocating at least one of its franchises.
We already know the Rams are returning to Los Angeles, and it’s looking like the Chargers will as well. Los Angeles has glitz, glamor, nice weather, and millions of people who could care less about football.
Olvera, 55, started watching the Rams at the age of 12 during the days of Fred Dryer, Jack Youngblood and Merlin Olsen. “We’re going to do very well without NFL football in St. Louis”.
The decision ends the NFL’s 21-year absence in Los Angeles. “I will be working over the next several weeks to explore the options that we have now created for ourselves to determine the best path forward for the Chargers”. “Don’t feel bad. We’ll get it right”.
The plan was contentious because it would have required about $400 million in public money (with the rest coming from the league and the owner), just a little over two decades after the Edward Jones Dome was built completely with taxpayer funds.
This is when the destination city of Los Angeles would be chosen. However, that recommendation did not appear to sway the owners.
But if the Rams pull it off with no major missteps and a reasonably successful on-field product, this move could be extraordinarily rewarding for owner Stan Kroenke and his lavish Inglewood stadium complex.

The Chargers have until next January to decide on the Inglewood option.
