Butland eyeing another top-half finish with Stoke
There have been a lot of incomings this summer – for the second year in succession – and Rodgers has brought in Sean O’Driscoll, Gary McAllister, and Pep Lijnders to work with him. It’s all in our fan Q&A.

“This is a new season, a new start”.
“We haven’t created as much and that’s more on ourselves”, said Rodgers in April, but with Firmino boasting impressive Bundesliga statistics and high hopes that Coutinho has the potential to take centre stage this term, the tools to change that could well be there. I think the strategy has been slightly more thought out this summer.
Liverpool are not in the Champions League this season and that would be their first target, getting into the top 4. This is a season on the brink; a season on a knife edge, with the only plausible reward seeing your team get the same results, but in an aesthetically pleasing fashion.
When you look at Liverpool’s side you see a hungry team.
Despite adding a number of new players and shaking up his back-room staff with some popular additions, Rodgers will do well to convince that last season’s thumping at the hands of the Potters was nothing more than a one off hiccup.
It could be a season of nearly for Liverpool while it would be hard for them to break into the top 4, just missing out by coming 5th, they could do something in either of the cup competitions, Rodgers isn’t a cup manager but this could be the only way for him to keep his job. Most importantly Nathaniel Clyne isn’t Glen Johnson.
Liverpool are in pole position in the race to sign PSG left-back Lucas Digne according to the Daily Telegraph. With our defence still largely questionable, Wanyama would protect the back four immaculately. It was only a couple of years ago Brendan Rodger’s was offering him along with some cash for Fulham’s Clint Dempsey. When you consider that cricket is their No. 1 sport, the interest generated by the league was just fantastic.
Who is now your club’s cult hero?
“Jordan Henderson has the legs and the passion” for the role was tweeted to me the other day, this statement is unquestionably true.
He will be in the spotlight like never before for the opening months of this campaign and if things do not run for him, I would not be surprised to see John Henry and his pals take action. Obviously the player and the agent didn’t but, maybe if the club would have seen the situation developing, it could have been addressed, and it might not have happened.
While players like Emre Can and Adam Lallana were mild to significant successes given their contributions, and still seemingly have plenty to offer, others such as $28.5 million defender Dejan Lovren were a complete and total flop. At the same time, one can not help bust ask are they really strong enough to overtake any of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and United and get into top four? Over £70m of talent can not go to waste! Not what any club would want, but ever the optimist Rodgers may well have greeted the news with a smile. Overall, I’m glad we have gotten rid of the yellow kit – anything would have been better than that!
