Butler, McDermott pace Bulls over Bucks in exhibition
“We missed a lot of open shots”. I want to play my role.

Fran Blinebury, NBA.com: Jimmy Butler got his payday and I’m happy for him.
But strip away that public posturing – and all the talk of whose team the 2015-16 Bulls will be – and similarities exist.
Things did not start off entirely well, but they were certainly different than in recent years. So until the time comes that he is eventually dealt, he is under the jurisdiction of Hoiberg who seems to have plans utilizing the veteran forward this season. The Bulls won 62.2 percent of their games when both were healthy. It’s just ‘Move the ball real well and be unselfish.’ Coach won’t pull you out of you have a bad shot. We spent a fair bit of time bemoaning the Bucks’ disinterest in shooting threes this summer, and nothing we saw on Tuesday suggested they’ve changed their tune.
“Our consultant suspended him for one game”, Kidd cracked, referring to new team consultant Rod Thorn.
The action was there. The Bulls ultimately weren’t up to that task, and collapsed under the weight of their own injuries and dysfunction. But that only scratched the surface.
It’s the team that can accommodate them all without the individual egos standing out that has the best chance to succeed, like the San Antonio Spurs.
Mike Dunleavy, Pau Gasol, Derrick Rose, Kirk Hinrich, and Taj Gibson were out for the Bulls while Jabari Parker and Tyler Ennis were all inactive for the Bucks. (KG). You might call that a “Bull market”. One of Hoiberg’s main goals this year will be to improve the Bulls’ offense, something Gay could definitely help with.
Center Miles Plumlee led Milwaukees second unit with 12 points, 8 of which came from the charity stripe. He finished with 23 points, most coming in that third quarter. “So if I crash the glass I can at least get three or four of them a game”. It now sits at 34. Thibodeau, a blazingly intense, work-harder grinder whose tendency to push his players was often blamed for his team’s fragility, has been replaced by the ostensibly more progressive Fred Hoiberg. Hoiberg recently called his play in camp “phenomenal”, and he backed that statement Tuesday, scoring 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and an 8-of-12 showing at the line. Then he parlayed that into getting to the rim. Most importantly though, he showed a fearlessness and a confidence that was also echoed in the shots, drives, and even the outlet passes of fellow rookie Inglis too. Nikola Mirotic had 18 points and eight rebounds.
This is modern basketball.

Don’t tell Chicago Bulls fans that Tuesday was just the preseason opener. Butler is one of the league’s most impressive two-way stars and looks to have a more complete game than Rose ever had, while Gasol is a future Hall-of-Famer still playing at an incredibly high level.
