The Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday ruled out an early return to worldwide cricket for the disgraced trio of Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif ahead of the imminent expiry of their spot-fixing bans.

Pakistani left-hand batsman Salman Butt, right-arm fast-bowler Muhammad Asif and left-arm pacer Muhammad Amir were involved in notorious spot-fixing saga during the Pakistan tour to England in 2010.

Previously, an anti-corruption tribunal of the global Cricket Council (ICC) in February 2011 inflicted a ban of five years on Amir, seven on Asif, of which two years were conditionally suspended, and ten on Butt, of which five were conditionally suspended.

The ICC also made it clear that the players can return to competitive cricket after fulfilling the specific conditions laid down by the independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal.

The PCB has sought more clarification from the ICC and for the time being indicated Asif and Butt might not be allowed to play for the Lahore Blues in the National T20 Championship from 1st September in Rawalpindi.

“Thanks to the Almighty who has given me another lifeline and I got another opportunity to make a comeback (in cricket)”.

All three will be eligible to play global cricket from next month.

But Rasheed said that could take some time.

“It’s an open ground for everyone, if I perform, get my rhythm back then I will be selected for Pakistan again, for which I am very keen”, he said. “I don’t know if I will be able to achieve the same peak as a cricketer but what I will ensure is to become a good human being and a good cricketer”, Butt urged.

Asif also insisted that people and former players should accept the fact that they had completed their punishment for their wrong doing and should not be given a second chance to redeem themselves and show everyone they will not repeat the same mistake again. “I’ve given my availability to the PCB regarding the delivery of the lecture to youngsters and whenever they will call me, I’ll go”, said Butt. “Until the world body’s response has been received and evaluated, PCB shall not be making any further comment on this issue”, the PCB said in a statement on Thursday.
