Buttler Stars As England Win Dubai ODI Series

“You just tend to get into a rhythm and when everything is working well, you just react to the ball that comes down”, Buttler said after inspiring England to a magnificent ODI series win over Pakistan with his unbeaten 116 off 52 balls (10 fours and eight sixes).

England won the toss and opted to bat in the fourth One-Day global against Pakistan in Dubai on Friday.

“We’re very privileged to work and train day in day out with Jos and the ability he shows in training and in the nets, today it all came together for him which was incredible”, he said. “I’m not pleased we lost, but I am completely satisfied with (the approach of) my boys”.

The Lancashire player has a strike-rate of 117.26 runs per 100 balls faced in one-day cricket and has scored England’s three fastest one-day centuries.

“No one ever likes to get dropped but he’s shown what a good team man he is, that Test match he got dropped for he was out throwing balls to his team-mates”.

England skipper Eoin Morgan praised the ruthless Buttler.

Joe Root’s sensible knock of 71: Middle-order batsman Joe Root, who has been in sensational form of late, continued his good form in this game as well played a sensible knock scoring a run-a-ball 71, including three boundaries and a couple of sixes.

His century off 46 deliveries broke his own England record and he hit eight sixes – another national best – and 10 fours.

Pakistan and India are scheduled to play two Tests, five one-day and two Twenty20 matches in United Arab Emirates (UAE) next month but the series is under serious doubt after a deadlock between the two boards.

Buttler, who already held the record of being the fastest Englishman to an ODI ton when he reached the landmark off 61 balls against Sri Lanka at Lord’s in 2014, improved on his mark to reach three figures off just 46 balls this time.

“I’m not sure I’ve got the words for what I saw tonight”.

“A lot of it was premeditated, but above all playing white-ball cricket has taken away a lot of the other stuff that goes through your mind and I’ve just concentrated on watching the ball”.

As it was, Roy and Root added a vital 140 runs for the second wicket to set the tone.

“We’ve got two or three guys that have come back from injury that, at this stage, we think are in front of Liam”, Bayliss said, “and obviously Footitt coming in gives us something different, being left arm and able to swing the ball”.
