Kashi Company is recalling some of their chewy granola bars and soft baked granola because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.
If you recently purchased any of the granola bars, just throw them away or take your purchase receipt back to Giant for a full refund.
Kashi said the trail mix bars being recalled are 7.4 ounces with a UPC code of 18627 03000 and best used by dates of January 4-9, 2017.
Listeria is a common organism found in nature. Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis. Listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, nausea, miscarriages and stillbirths, as well as serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weakened immune systems.
The company said sunflower seed ingredients distributed by one of its suppliers, SunOpta, are in the affected products.
