Buy OnePlus X without invite, as the smartphone goes ‘invite

It’s worth noting that the OnePlus X isn’t terribly well suited to USA customers given the lack of Bands 12 and 17, making it mostly a 3G-only affair for AT&T and T-Mobile customers. To compare, the OnePlus 2 took around four months to go invite-free, while the OnePlus One took one year.

Still, OnePlus has been speeding up the transition between the first invite-only sales and full availability as the brand grows and improves its production capacity. “We hope that this development will make the process of purchasing your very own OnePlus X as smooth and effortless as it can possibly be”, said company co-founder Carl Pei.

That being said, OnePlus has more news to share with us it seems, and you’ll appreciate this particular piece of news if you live in India.

The OnePlus X has ditched its invite system just 92 days after going on sale. The higher-end variant went on sale in the country back in August for Rs. 24,999 ($368), and even though the lower-end model is a bit late, it is now available for Rs. 22,999 ($339). The 16GB variant of the smartphone is exclusively available via Amazon India.

In case you are wondering what as little as $249 will get you, hear that OnePlus X features a 1080p AMOLED display sized 5 inches diagonally and that it’s underpinned by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 GPU.

It comes with 16GB of storage, with a microSD card slot capable of expanding that by a further 128GB. The phone runs OxygenOS 2.2.0 which is an Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based custom ROM which brings nearly stock Android experience.
