Byron Scott thought he’d get 1 more season to coach Lakers

Three years after his retirement as a player, the 36-year-old Southern California native is back to become the 26th head coach in franchise history.

As for Kerr, he noted that he did not feel disappointed when Walton told him that he will be leaving Golden State.

Walton admitted that stepping in for Kerr over the first half of the season was crucial in him feeling like he was ready to take on a head coaching assignment. It’s not a stretch to think the Celtics might mortgage some of their future – especially with a draft pick surplus – in order to get an impact player or two who will help them in the near future. “We have a chance to do something very special”.

Early in the season there were rumors that Derrick Rose and Butler weren’t on good terms, and while it was assumed that the Bulls would usher in a new era with Butler at the helm, moving on from Rose, the latest rumblings suggest that Chicago could actually look to move Butler this offseason. “I couldn’t call everybody, but I reached out to Draymond, I talked to Andre (Iguodala), guys that have just been huge in helping me develop as a coach”. Assuming the Lakers land a top three pick, were a trade to actually occur, depending on who the Kings decide to draft would likely determine whether they’d want Jordan Clarkson or Julius Randle back in return. Because of this, it is believed that he will replace Walton as the direct assistant of Kerr.

And despite winning 38 total games with the LAkers over his two-year tenure – – as well as making numerous eyebrow-raising remarks about basketball philosophy – – Scott mentioned feeling blindsided when the team said it had made a decision to part ways with him.

Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kevin Durant is the most coveted free agent of the class, but it has been rumored that if he is going to leave the Thunder, he wants to land on a team that could make an immediate NBA Championship run. To test the logic of that thinking in sports, they studied data on the career trajectories of National Football League coaches during a 31-year period from 1980-2010.

The Lakers could have started the rebuilding effort after Bryant tore his Achilles’ tendon in April of 2013. He also mentioned that Los Angeles could offer their 2016 first-round pick and D’Angelo Russell for PG13.

“There’s always challenges with every coaching job you take”, Walton said.

If the Sixers could obtain the top pick and the second overall pick, they could select both Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram, players who could develop together and grow to be really great pieces on a good team. “With the team in L.A., we need to go down there and build a foundation”.
