Two persons, whose identities were not revealed, were left suspended in the air for an hour.
After the slingshot catapults its passengers into the air, the elastic snaps on the way down, violently jolting the cable as the crowd below gasps and cries out in shock.
On the premier unveiling of “The Fifth Element” ride at Luna Park in the resort of Cap d’Agde, France, things went from bad to worse to flat out terrifying.
The video, which was posted online on Friday, has already racked up more than a million views on YouTube.
After the elastic cable snapped, the ride bobbed up and down until it hit a support column. While one passenger was not injured, the 24-year-old from Cher, France, suffered a broken leg during the accident.
This not the first time that a slingshot ride has malfunctioned.

The theme park blamed the incident on a “manufacturing defect” in the elastic, The Local reported. The carousel will be closed as the investigation be continues, and will reopen when experts feel the solidity of the structure is sound.
